Vintage ivory hunter with seal and scrimshaw by Max Ungarook, Inupiaq Eskimo

Max Ungarook was an Inupiat from Barrow, Alaska. This vintage figure, which probably dates from the 1950's or 1960's is carved from a whale tooth. Delicate scrimshaw adds life to the carving.

The hunter is holding a small seal, which is a separate carving.
